Pastor: Reverend Mykhaylo Shkyndya

Fr. Mykhaylo was born, Shkyndya Mykhaylo Ivanovych, on August 2, 1986 in the Urban Village of Dubove, Tyachiv district, Zakarpatska Region, Ukraine. There he attended the level I-II General Education School from 1993 to 2001. He then continued his education at the level I-III General Education School, receiving a Certificate of Completion of Comprehensive Secondary Education in 2003.

That same year Fr. Mykhaylo entered the Blessed Theodore Romzha Greek Catholic Theological Seminary in Uzhhorod. He sang in the Blessed Theodore Romzha Seminary Choir which toured the United States in 2008. From 2007 to 2010, he was the Sacristan at the Seminary Church. Fr. Mykhaylo graduated from the Theological Seminary in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology. He was married on November 6, 2010, was ordained a Deacon on November 10, 2010, and on November 20, 2010 he was ordained a Priest. On November 23, 2010, he was nominated to minister in the Village of Dubrynychi, Perechyn District, Zakarpatska Region and would be in charge of youth in the Perechyn Deanery of Mukachevo Diocese.

Fr. Mykhaylo and his family arrived in the United States, in Pittsburgh, on January 26, 2016. From January to April, Fr. Mykhaylo had English lessons and practiced at Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church in Mckees Rocks. Easter time was spent at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Perryopolis. By the end of May Fr. Mykhaylo was assigned by Archbishop Metropolitan William Skurla to be the priest for St. George and St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Churches, in Aliquippa and Ambridge. In June, he was also assigned to St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Chapel in Beaver.
